Make24 / Guide

How to play the 24 game.

Use all four numbers to make 24. You can add, subtract, multiply or divide.

Take it one move at a time

Tap a number, choose an operation, then tap another number. The result replaces the two numbers you used. Keep going with the numbers left on the board until only 24 remains.

The rules

  • Use every starting number exactly once.
  • You can use any of the four operations more than once.
  • Division must give a whole number: 8 ÷ 4 is fine; 8 ÷ 3 isn’t.

Try 2, 4, 6 and 8

Start with 6 − 2. That gives you another 4, leaving 4, 4 and 8. From there:

6 − 2 = 4 4 × 4 = 16 16 + 8 = 24

All four starting numbers used, and 24 at the end. That’s a solve.
